WARREN -- The city has received $2,761,000 in federal grant money for housing improvements for low- to moderate-income residents.
The city received $1,662,000 from the Community Development Block Grant program for projects including housing rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements and youth services. A $1,099,000 Home Investment Partnership Program grant will go toward assistance for down payments for the purchase of homes, new housing construction and housing rehabilitation.
"Homeownership is a vital component of a person's perception of his or her present situation and prospects for the future," said U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. of Poland, D-17th, who made the grant announcement. "I am pleased that the city of Warren will benefit from this program."
