Dr. KEITH J. SMEDI, 44 Sports psychologist for NYC Marathon



WARREN -- Private services were conducted in Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church for Dr. Keith J. Smedi, 44, of 301 Dalwood Drive, Cleveland, formerly of Warren, who died Friday at his home. The Cuyahoga County coroner's ruling is pending.
Dr. Smedi was born July 25, 1956, in Warren, a son of John V. and Jeanette P. Asolas Smedi.
A self-employed psychologist, he was a 1974 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, and received his bachelor's degree from Kent State University and his Ph.D. from Ball State University in Indiana.
For 15 years he operated his practice with offices in Cleveland and Warren. He was an Army captain serving with the 82nd Airborne Service.
He coached youth basketball and baseball teams, had been a participant in the New York City Marathon as it head sports psychologist, and was a member of the church.
Besides his father of Warren, he leaves three sons, Colin, Jesse and Kyle, all of Cortland; and a sister, Heidi Smedi Bozickovic of Haddonfield, N.J.
