Church presents class on flowers

WARREN -- The public is invited to a program on plants and flowers at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning N.W.
Art Straitiff, the church horticulturist, will instruct the class, titled "A Rose by Any Other Name Is ... Art!" Class members will learn about plants and flowers, their usage and significance, and ways to use and arrange them for many occasions.
The initial class explains biblical references to plants and flowers and their use in all aspects of life. Design periods will be scheduled using fresh, silk and dried flowers and their accessories.
The instructions are free; the only cost will be for materials used. Participants may bring their own containers or buy them in the class at minimal cost. Sample arrangements will be on display.
Call the church, (330) 393-1524, to register; call Straitiff at (330) 394-9276 for more information.
The series is part of the University of the Church programs offered by First Presbyterian to the community and to its members.
