BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home for Alexander M. Brown, 89, of Ron Joy Nursing Home, formerly of Boardman, who died Wednesday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 6, 1912, in Youngstown, a son of Alexander and Ella McPhearson Brown, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a sales representative for the Borden Co. from 1939 to 1947 and then for Federal Wholesale from 1947 to 1989 when he retired. A 1930 graduate of The Rayen School, he attended Youngstown College. He was a member of St. Charles Church, the Erie Yacht Club, Saxon Club, was past treasurer of the Conneaut Yacht Club, and participated in the Senior Olympics for 10 years, where he won several medals.
Besides his wife, the former Sue K. Wirt, whom he married July 4, 1938, he leaves a son, Charles T. of Boardman; a daughter, Suzanne Hruska of Canfield; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A brother, Hugh, and two sisters, Mary Watt and Barbara Rasor, are deceased.
Friends may call for one hour before services at the funeral home.
