THELMA CHRISTINA PLACE, 91



SALEM -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home for Thelma Christina Place, 91, of 451 Valley Road, formerly of South Egypt Road, who died Tuesday morning at Pleasant View North Retirement Center.
Mrs. Place was born July 29, 1909, in Mahoning County, a daughter of Ensign and Anna Collar Shirey.
She was a cook at Cupola Nursing Home for five years and at Copeland Oaks Retirement Home for three years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Beloit.
Her first husband, Lester Caddes, died in 1965. Her second husband, George L. Place, whom she married May 16, 1981, died in 1991.
She leaves two daughters, Mary Lou Fish of Salem and Nancy Jack of Damascus; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Sally Copeland, a sister, Pauline McDevitt, two brothers, Russell and Paul Shirey, and a grandson are deceased.
Friends may call one hour before the service Thursday at the funeral home.
