For the second straight day, the Youngstown State University football team postponed its spring workout because of cold weather. Today's practice has been changed to begin at 1 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium. Sunday's 3:15 p.m. workout will be the first in full pads. The spring Hoot-n-Holler drill is set Monday at 3:15 p.m. The schedule then will have workouts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and scrimmages on Fridays until the Red-White Spring Game on April 12.
Kosar pledges$100,000
Boardman native Bernie Kosar, quarterback of the Cleveland Browns from 1985-93, has pledged $100,000 over the next five years to the scholarship fund of the NEO Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Kosar will receive the NFF's Distinguished American Award at the 14th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet on April 29 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel will be the banquet speaker. Tickets cost $40. Tables for 10 are available for $400 and may be ordered by calling Tim Gleason at (330) 963-0444.
