YOUNGSTOWN -- Auditions for Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Auditions will be by appointment; call (330) 747-5175.
Stambaugh Youth Concert Band is for high-school-age musicians in Northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Directors are Dr. Stephen Gage and John Veneskey of YSU Dana School of Music. Managing director is Thomas Groth. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from October through April. The full band will perform two concerts, and there will be other performances by small sectional groups.
More than 70 musicians played in the band last year.
Celebrity Series events
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Westminster College Celebrity Series opens Saturday with the singing group The 5th Dimension.
The yearly series will kick off at 8 p.m. in Orr Auditorium with some of the group's biggest hits.
The next Celebrity Series event will be the play "South Pacific" at 8 p.m. Oct. 4.
