Expo for young artists
YOUNGSTOWN -- The artworks of pupils in kindergarten through 12th grade will be featured in an annual Tri-County Young Artists' Expo July 13 to Aug. 1 at Bliss Hall Gallery in the College of Fine and Performing Arts at Youngstown State University.
School personnel have until May 29 to submit one piece of artwork from each school for the exhibit that is part of the Summer Festival of Arts, sponsored by YSU and the Arts Council of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

YSU marching band
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University students of all majors are invited to join the Marching Pride band for fall semester. Auditions are not required. Percussionists will attend a pre-season camp beginning Aug. 12, and all musicians will report to camp Aug. 18. Classes begin Aug. 26. The first of six home football games will be Aug. 29. Spider Man mania
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Spidey senses are tingling at Westgate Cinemas 9, where special events are planned in conjunction with the opening of the new "Spider Man" action movie Friday. Show up between 4 and 10 p.m. for a Spider Man trivia contest, with Spider Man comics as prizes; comic book signings by artist Ron Frenz; and to view a video mockumentary by Clinton Shaffer in which Spider Man saves New Castle from the Hobgoblin. A Spider Man set, with skyscrapers and a replica of the action hero, was made by set designer George A. Orr of New Castle Playhouse and will be on display.
Free concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- A one-hour performance of "The Soldier's Tale," an eclectic composition by Igor Stravinsky, will be the season finale for Dana Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players at Youngstown State University. The free concert will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bliss Recital Hall. The piece contains elements of ragtime, tango, waltz, march and two Lutheran chorales. William B. Slocum will conduct; Dr. Allan Mosher will narrate; and graduate student Melanie Gran, also of Warren Philharmonic and Youngstown Symphony orchestras, will give one of her last performances as a graduate student.
String Cheese Incident
CLEVELAND -- Tickets go on sale at noon today for a concert by String Cheese Incident at 8 p.m. July 14 at Nautica Pavilion in the Flats. String Cheese Incident, a quintet from Boulder, Colo., appeals to fans of bluegrass, reggae, jam bands and roots music. All tickets are $28 in advance. Call Ticketmaster at (330) 747-1212.

The 1990s-era comedy beat out "I Love Lucy" on TV Guide's list of the top 50 television shows ever.
Jackie Gleason's "The Honeymooners" ranked third. Rounding out the top 10 are "All in the Family," "The Sopranos," "60 Minutes," David Letterman's "Late Show," "The Simpsons," "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Saturday Night Live."
