Two recent releases from Kent State
The Kent State University Press recently released "When Oberlin was King of the Gridiron: The Heisman Years." Written by Nat Brandt, one-time editor at the New York Times, the book is a lively account of coach John Heisman's years as football coach of Oberlin College. Brandt looks back at the early days of football and explores the debate of the role of college football in academia.
"Educational Architecture in Ohio: From One-Room Schools and Carnegie Libraries to Community Education Villages," by Virginia E. McCormick is another of the university's releases. A retired professor of home economics at The Ohio State University, the author focuses on the philosophies behind the architectural styles of Ohio's schools and colleges, libraries and opera houses. The book is 392 pages long.
