LIBERTY -- The township's Trash or Treasure sale will be Saturday at Center Park near the township administration building.
The sale will be from 10 a.m. to at least 6 p.m.
Those with garage sale-type items to sell may set up a table for $10.
The money will benefit the township baseball program.
Assault charges
WARREN -- Six city residents were to be in municipal court this morning to face misdemeanor assault charges.
Police arrested them during a fight early Saturday outside the Club Fiesta, 999 Mahoning Ave.
The fight started around 2 a.m. and several officers had to respond, according to reports.
Mathews school board
VIENNA -- Mathews Local Board of Education has changed its regular meeting from May 16 to May 23 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the board office at 4434B Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna.
Brass concert at mall
NILES -- The Pendel Brass and Songsters will perform at 7 p.m. May 17 at the Eastwood Mall Gazebo as part of National Salvation Army Week.
The performance is presented by the Warren Salvation Army.
The band performs marches, classical and contemporary music. The Pendel group has performed throughout the United States and in other countries.
Library board
WARREN -- The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library board of trustees will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Trespassing charge
GREENE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Girard, Ohio, man faces criminal trespass charges in Beaver County, Pa.
Pennsylvania State Police said Fred Henry Wild III, 27, was found on land posted for no trespassing off Pa. Route 30 in Greene Township at 6 p.m. Friday.
He was charged with criminal trespass and released.
DUI, other charges
SHARON, Pa. -- A man arrested on a DUI charge got into more trouble when he tried to destroy a page from the docket at the police station.
Police said Christopher L. Matvey, 23, of South Darby Road, Hermitage, was stopped after running a red light at Dock Street and Connelly Boulevard around 11 p.m. Saturday.
While he was going through the booking procedure at the police station, he spotted his name on the docket, which lists all arrests and tore that page from the book and tried to flush it down a toilet, police said.
Two charges of tampering with and trying to destroy public records were filed against him, along with the DUI and stop light violation.
He was arraigned Sunday and freed after posting a $5,000 unsecured bond.
To name official
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Hermitage School Board will to have a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. today to announce a new director of curriculum and instruction and special support services.
Duane Piccirilli, board president, said the person comes from among the district's staff.
The new director succeeds Karen A. Ionta, who becomes superintendent July 1.
Ionta was hired in June 1998 as director of curriculum and instruction and special support services and had assistant superintendent duties added in September.
The board voted in March to make her superintendent, replacing Dr. Louis Mastrian.
Guns, items stolen
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Hunting rifles and other items were taken in unrelated house burglaries Friday.
Pennsylvania State Police said seven hunting rifles valued at $1,725 were taken from a home on state Route 551 in Pulaski Township between 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
New Castle Police said 10 rifles, shotguns and pistols, a television, a VCR and a computer were taken from a South Scott Street home between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Jewelry, valued at $2,000, $500 worth of change and five bottles of prescription medication were also taken from the New Castle home.
