Facts about the Mahoning County Treatment Alternatives to Street Crimes program:
The program started in 1998 with three staff members and a $77,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. It's now got a budget of $500,000 and nine employees.
763 people have been referred into the program and screened for placement.
574 people have been accepted and referred into treatment programs.
There are 344 people on the active caseload. About one-third of them were placed there through the common pleas drug court.
