BARBIE SUNGLASSES
What: About 70,000 Barbie sunglasses.
Reason: The frames of the sunglasses can break, allowing the petroleum distillate and floating glitter to leak out. The petroleum distillate is toxic and can be fatal if ingested.
Description: The pink tinted sunglasses say "Barbie" and "Mattel" on the left side of the ear piece.
Sold from: June 1999 through August 2000 at Target, Walgreen's and Bradlee's stores nationwide for about $6.
What to do: Take the sunglasses away from children immediately and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. For more information call (800) 868-7870.
PEBCO HAIR DRYERS
What: About 22,5000 Pebco hair dryers.
Reason: The hair dryers have undersized wiring, loose electrical connections and lack ground fault circuit interrupters.
Description: The recalled hair dryers were sold under the Pebco and Dubl Duck brand names. The model name on the intake grill reads Black Jet 1200, Black Jet 1700 or Pebco 1500.
Sold from: March 1999 through December 2000 at beauty salons and hair-care stores for between $25 and $30.
What to do: Stop using the hair dryers and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information call toll-free (888) 391-0900.
RIDING LAWN & amp; GARDEN TRACTORS
What: About 9,700 White Outdoor riding lawn and garden tractors
Reason: The hood latch on the tractors can damage the fuel tank and cause fuel to leak when the hood is moved, presenting a fire and explosion hazard.
Description: The tractors involved in the recall are year 2000 models with 42-, 46- or 50-inch mower decks, 16- to 25-horsepower engines and a foot pedal speed control. The model numbers included in the recall are 13AO616G190, 13AT606H190, 13AT616H190, 13AJ616H190, 14AJ816H190 and 14AZ816P190. If there is a green "X" next to the model number, the tractor is not affected by the recall.
Sold from: November 1999 through December 2000 at dealers nationwide for between $1,600 and $3,400.
What to do: Stop using the tractors immediately and contact White Outdoor Products Co. toll-free at (888) 848-6038 to verify that your tractor is under recall. If it is, you will receive a replacement hood latch and fuel tank inspection instructions.
