RECALL Booster seats
What: About 1.5 million Safety 1st Fold-Up Booster Seats.
Reason: The top half of the seat inserts can separate, causing a child to fall from the chair. There have been 32 reports of the seat inserts' separating, resulting in injuries to seven children. The most serious injury was a broken arm.
Description: The Safety 1st booster seats, for children up to 4 years old who can sit unassisted, are made of blue plastic with green and red arms and a yellow feeding tray. The seat insert is made of two halves that are fitted together. Only booster seats with model numbers 173, 173A and 173B are affected by the recall. The model number is located on the back of the booster seat, inside the left arm panel.
Sold from: January 1994 through August 1999 at major toy, hardware and department stores nationwide for about $18.
