Marathon light bulb to last 5 years

The folks at Philips are coming out with a new compact fluorescent light bulb that replicates the look and feel of an incandescent light while offering the soft white light of a fluorescent.
Not only that, they say, but the new bulb -- dubbed the Marathon -- is guaranteed to last five years.
Furthermore, the new bulb should save on electricity costs, as much as $26 over its lifespan based on national averages for electricity costs. Of course, in these days of rapidly rising electricity costs, that savings figure could escalate.
The Marathon, rated at 60 watts, actually takes 16 watts to power and has a light output of 826 lumens. It is intended for light sources such as table and floor lamps, open ceiling fixtures and weather-protected outdoor fixtures. (An enclosed fixture could shorten the life of this bulb.)
The Marathon is available in home centers, hardware stores and many mass-merchandise stores.
Flip Tray holds toolson top of stepladder
Here's a product that is likely to be so useful in jobs around the house, yet so simple, that it comes under the category: "Now why didn't I think of that?"
It's a tray/toolbox that will fit atop most stepladders.
Ever use a stepladder for small jobs and have to go up and down frequently because you had to get another tool or fastener or whatever? Ever spill a few screws or nails or thingamajigs that you tried to set atop your stepladder?
Now there's something its manufacturer calls the Flip Tray that should help eliminate these problems. It's an adjustable tray that folds out to hold small tools and a host of other things. It fastens to the stepladder with pressure screws. There is nothing to assemble, and no tools are needed to attach the tray.
The tray fits ladder top caps 121/4 by 5 inches up to 141/2 by 61/2 inches. Made of engineering plastic and hardened metal components, it can be left on the ladder top or removed.
It was invented by a Mesa, Ariz., man and may be available in a few stores near that desert city, but the rest of us will have to get it directly from the manufacturer. It has a suggested retail price of $24.95.
To find out more or to order a tray, call the manufacturer, StepPro, at (480) 456-5857, or write to StepPro Inc., 836 W. Kiva, Mesa, Ariz. 85201.
