Arrested on warrant
YOUNGSTOWN -- Wesley Howell was arrested Sunday morning on a warrant issued in May for his failure to appear in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on a drug charge. Police found Howell, 33, sleeping on a couch at home at 834 N. Garland Ave. The house has no running water. It does have electric and gas service, reports show. Howell also faces charges of criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Grant-seeking advice
YOUNGSTOWN -- A free orientation to grant-seeking will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in the main public library meeting room, 305 Wick Ave. The program is open to representatives of nonprofit organizations seeking information on funding sources, fund raising and library materials that can help in the funding research process. Gunfire in Campbell
CAMPBELL -- A 1985 Buick Riviera was hit by gunfire several times while parked in the driveway of 121 Jean St. around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. According to police reports, the vehicle owner was asleep on his sofa when he heard a single shot behind his apartment. His girlfriend had asked several people, including a 25-year-old neighbor she recognized, to leave the area. Several minutes later the couple heard eight to 10 shots outside the front of the apartment. They saw the neighbor walking away from the car.
