LAWRENCE COUNTY Man jailed in stabbing
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A 28-year-old Grove City man is in Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond in the weekend stabbing of a 42-year-old Volant man.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested William Lee Bobbert of Black Run Road on a warrant when he turned himself in Monday in the office of his lawyer, Norman Levine of New Castle.
Bobbert was jailed after arraignment before Magistrate James Reed on charges of attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
The victim, George Heckathorne of McNulty Road, remains in serious condition after emergency surgery in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was flown there after receiving initial treatment at United Community Hospital in Grove City.
Bobbert and Heckathorne argued on the roadway outside Heckathorne's home late Saturday evening, police said.
Heckathorne was stabbed twice in the abdomen and once in the throat. Charges are also pending against a second suspect who drove the cream-colored sedan in which Bobbert left the stabbing scene.
