JOHN A. MICHALSKI, 78
GREENE TOWNSHIP -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shafer-Winans & amp; Lamer Funeral Home, Cortland, for John A. Michalski, 78, of 8727 Durst-Colebrook Road, who died early Sunday in St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, after a long illness.
Mr. Michalski was born March 4, 1923, in Cleveland, a son of Joseph and Julia Erdt Michalski, and lived in this area for 58 years after coming from Windsor, Ohio.
He worked for George Rimes Trucking Co. in Chardon as a dock worker for 29 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Greene Church of the Nazarene and VFW Post 3967 in Greene. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea.
Besides his wife, the former Jane Manes, whom he married Dec. 22, 1942, he leaves four daughters, B.J. Giewitz of Greene Township, Annette Maraczi of Mecca, Susan Kintz of Vernon and Marya Denman of Johnston; a son, Mike of Orwell; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
