MINERAL RIDGE -- The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer will have an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in McDonald High School auditorium to discuss the proposed Hilltop Sanitary Sewer District.
Weathersfield Trustee Fred Bobovnyk said Hilltop residents who get water from McDonald can meet with McDonald Administrator Bob O'Connell after the meeting to discuss their bills.
Thermal exercise
WEATHERSFIELD -- Firefighters from Weathersfield, Liberty and Vienna townships will participate in a training exercise to test thermal imaging cameras at 6:30 p.m. Monday on Ninth Avenue off McDonald Avenue in the Hilltop section of Weathersfield Township.
The departments are looking to buy such cameras. Seven camera vendors from across the country are scheduled to attend. Thermal imaging cameras are used to find people and pets in dark, smoky situations.
Oral history
YOUNGSTOWN -- Plans for a touring oral history program in observance of Ohio's bicentennial will be the topic of an informational meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, 648 Wick Ave.
The National Endowment for the Humanities has given The Wallpaper Project, a Wapakaneta-based history and theater program, a grant to determine the potential for a play, with a cast of professional actors and actresses and local talent, that would travel to 50 Ohio locations from March to December 2003.
Women's month
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sarah Brown-Clark, Youngstown clerk of courts, will speak at a celebration of National Women's Month at noon March 28 in the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Youngstown State University. Brown-Clark's topic is "Challenges Facing African-American Women in the Millennium."
The event is sponsored by Africana Studies Program, the Center for Student Progress and Multicultural Student Services, and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Disability. A reception will follow.
Health fair
YOUNGSTOWN -- A health fair by Eastern Behavioral Health Center and Youngstown State University Department of Nursing will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastern Partial Programs, 880 E. Indianola Ave.
Screenings include blood pressure, diabetic and eye-care testing.
Fire damage
WARREN -- Christine Lichnerowicz and her son Clayton Kohut, no age available, were to seek treatment for possible smoke inhalation after a fire at their unit in Wedgewood Apartments on Parkman Road about 6:10 p.m. Saturday.
The fire department said the fire started when a lamp fell on clothes in a bedroom.
Damage was confined to the bedroom wall and contents
