Improvisation in Warren

Improvisation in Warren
WARREN -- It's almost show time for participants in Kent State University Trumbull Campus Theatre's "Live Wires" improvisation group. A performance and competition will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in the college theater, 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W. Admission is free. Five teams will compete for points, which will be awarded by a panel of judges. The contest is similar to the TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and subject matter can be mature. Call (330) 847-8700 for information.
More 'Jeopardy' money
"Jeopardy" contestants are about to get a raise. The syndicated TV quiz show, now in its 18th season and starring Alex Trebek, will double the dollar values on its game board beginning Nov. 26. "Jeopardy" clues will be worth between $200 and $2,000.
It will also be more likely for a five-time champion on "Jeopardy" to amass more than $100,000 in winnings, show representatives report.
Timely topic
Talk about ripped-from-the-headlines: Director Mimi Leder ("Deep Impact") is developing an ensemble drama based on the lives of workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It's all a conspiracy
Well-known conspiracy freak Richard Belzer ("Law & amp; Order: Special Victims Unit") will be host of "Conspiracy Council," an hourlong Sci-Fi Channel special to debut next year.
Fine art has spotin Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS -- Picasso, Manet and Matisse have a new home in Las Vegas.
The Wynn Collection, featuring works of 19th- and 20th-century American and European masterpieces, opened to the public last week in a new gallery in the former Desert Inn resort.
The resort's owners, Steve and Elaine Wynn, assembled the private collection, which includes more than a dozen works by eight artists.
The Wynns bought the Desert Inn hotel-casino in June 2000. The gallery is in the Desert Inn's former gift shop in the remaining tower. The other tower was imploded in October.
