FRED L. BROGAN, 63
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at J. Bradley McGonigle Memorial Home, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, for Fred L. Brogan, 63, of 20 Oakwood Way, who died Friday afternoon in Northern Hospital, Mount Airy, N.C.
Mr. Brogan was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of Chester G. and Virginia Ann Ahrens Brogan.
He was a lineman for Penn Power for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He then worked as a driver for Weingartner Florist. He was a 1955 graduate of Union High School and attended North Carolina State University and Youngstown State College on a scholarship for football and basketball.
He was president of Union Township Area Boosters from 1976 to 1987, assistant athletic director for Union Area Schools from 1995 to 1996 and coached youth baseball for 16 years.
He attended the church.
Besides his wife, the former Jean E. Goodge, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958, he leaves a daughter, Paula S. Breen of Wexford, Pa.; two sons, F. Scott and Charles T. Brogan, both of New Castle; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
