COLUMBIANA CORNER Prosecutor offers speakers

Schools and organizations wanting to know more about crime victims' rights and the criminal justice system are invited to contact Columbiana County Prosecutor Robert Herron's office.
Herron is making his staff available for speaking engagements in an effort to educate the public about complicated and sensitive legal issues.
Topics his staff is willing to address include criminal and juvenile court procedures, emotional issues often experienced by crime victims, resources available to crime victims, and how to lodge a complaint regarding a criminal act.

Community service: Columbiana County commissioners recently presented Jean Rhodes of Woodsdale Road, Salem, with a resolution commemorating her community service efforts over the past several decades.
Rhodes has volunteered with the Ohio State University Extension's agricultural, 4-H and homemaker programs since the early 1950s.
She also served as state treasurer and president of the Ohio Extension Homemaker's Council and was a delegate to the National Extension Homemakers for many years.
Rhodes has been active in United Local Schools, where she has contributed her time as a Parent-Teacher Organization member and a band booster.
Out to the curb: During city council's discussion last week of curbside recycling, East Palestine Mayor Raymond Hall testified about the benefits of recycling.
"We recycle at my house; my wife recycles everything," Hull said, then added, "I think she'd recycle me if she could."
