BROOKFIELD -- Charges are pending against a 29-year-old man who police said drove his car into a township home about 6:30 a.m. Saturday Police said the man, whose address wasn't available, intentionally drove into 8206 Ulp Street S.E., then assaulted a resident of a neighboring house.
Lightning suspected
GREENE -- Police say lightning probably caused a fire about 3 a.m. Saturday that kept firefighters at 9900 State Route 46 N.E. for several hours. Besides Greene Township, firefighters from Bloomfield, Mecca, Kinsman, Gustavus and Johnston, and the Trumbull County Arson Task Force battled the house fire.
Book fair planned
BROOKFIELD -- Trumbull SE Headstart will sponsor a scholastic book fair this week. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The school is near the intersection of state Routes 7 and 82 behind Brookfield Diner.
Standard meeting
CHAMPION -- The next International Standard Organization/Quality Standard Network meeting will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday in the work force development and continuing studies center, Room 211, at the Kent Trumbull Campus, 4314 Mahoning Ave. Speaker is Rocco Losito, an engineer at Delphi Automotive Systems.
