BRUCE M. CHAPPELL, 78
WARREN -- Services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Madasz Funeral Home, Brookfield, for Bruce M. Chappell, 78, of 3741 E. Market St. N.E., formerly of Fowler, who died Friday in St. Joseph Health Center.
Mr. Chappell was born June 8, 1922, in Warren, a son of Kenneth and Addie Carter Chappell. He retired in 1984 as a business representative for Local 1438, had been a carpenter and millwright and had been a foreman working on the Lordstown Assembly Plant, Youngstown Control Tower, Republic Steel Cooling Tower and the Ohio Turnpike, with a career spanning 50 years.
He taught Apprentice Carpenter School in Girard, and for the past 20 years, had enjoyed farming and raising Hereford cattle. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Breeze at Pearl Harbor and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Association the Mine Warfare Association.
Besides his wife, the former Mary Moody, whom he married May 1, 1948, he leaves two daughters, Janet Savu of Bartlett, Tenn., and Joyce Thomas of Brookfield; a brother, Kenneth R. of Greenville, Tenn.; and a grandson.
Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
