NILES -- Ali Baba Daughters of Mokanna will sponsor a benefit performance of "Eleanor, American Love Story" Wednesday at Trumbull New Theater, 5883 Youngstown Warren Road S.E. There will be hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. and the play will be at 7. Music World event
FRANKLIN, PA. -- DeBence Antique Music World, 1261 Liberty St., will hold a grand re-opening event from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the renovated museum where music memorabilia is on display.
Entertainment will feature the Oil City Jazz Quartet at 2:30 p.m. and a magic show at 3:30.
Family fun and carnival games and activities will be featured in the Buffalo Street parking lot and an auction will be held for a variety of items. There will also be a raffle for a trip for two to Las Vegas.
Admission is $25 for a family of two adults and two children, and there will be a $5 fee for additional children. Individuals are admitted for $15. Food, games and entertainment are included in the fee.
Irish music jam
GIRARD -- The traditional Irish music jam session known as seisiun will be held in the city for the next two months. The informal gatherings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. next Sunday and June 16 at Girard Multi-Generational Center, inside Tod Woods School building, 443 Trumbull Ave. Any musician may join in, and audiences are welcome. Polka cruise
PITTSBURGH -- Radio personality Larry Walk of Youngstown will celebrate the 38th anniversary of his "Happy Polkaland" radio show at a polka cruise on the Gateway Clipper from noon to 4 p.m. next Sunday. Walk will be emcee as Ray Jay & amp; Carousels, Henny & amp; Versa J's and Li'l John & amp; A.T.M. play music. Boarding begins at noon at Station Square. Walk's program can be heard from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays on WKTX-AM 830 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays on WPIC-AM 790.
Theater magic revealed
CORTLAND -- The last in a series of "Morning at the Museum" programs at Viets Museum, 224 N. High St., will feature "Mystery and Magic of the Theater" by Paul Kimpel at 10 a.m. May 21.
Kimpel will reveal secrets of what's behind the stage curtains and how set designers create the enchantment of the theater for audiences.
Kimpel, set designer at Youngstown Playhouse for 30 years, has also designed sets for John Kenley's productions at W.D. Packard Music Hall and Children's Theater at Kent State University Trumbull Campus. He is teaching theater, set design and technical theater at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.

Arts council grants
Several area artists and arts programs are recent recipients of Ohio Arts Council grants for fiscal year 2002. Shining Reflections, a vocational program in East Liverpool, received a minority arts grant of $4,200 for arts program management and development. Red Hawk American Indian Cultural Society of Lowellville received a $300 minority arts grant for sponsorship development. Wanda Kover of West Farmington received $1,753 for a Native American beadwork apprenticeship program. Youngstown Playhouse received $7,000 for its youth theater tour. Poet William Greenway of Youngstown received an Individual Artist Fellowship grant of $5,000.
