AUSTINTOWN Boys charged in theft of jewelry from home
Township police also cited teen-agers Monday for curfew violations.
AUSTINTOWN -- Twin 14-year-old boys have each been charged with burglary in the theft of several items from a Barrington Drive home.
The owner of the home told police he asked the boys, both of Oaktrace Street, to take care of his dog in August while he was out of town. The home was on the boys' paper route.
When the man returned home, he found a chair had been moved under his kitchen window and his screen had been broken. At the time, the man did not think anything had been taken from the home.
The man's wife told police, however, that about a week later she noticed one of the boys wearing her ring. The couple later found that several pieces of jewelry and pocket knives had been taken from the home.
The man told police that he and his wife questioned the boys about the items. Both boys admitted they had taken them, the owner said. The boys told police Saturday some of the jewelry had been given to their other brothers and sisters.
Curfew violations: Township police also cited eight teens for curfew violations early Monday morning after police responded to a report of a loud party on Howard Avenue.
Police say several people ran from the home as they pulled into the driveway at 12:12 a.m. Officers later found the teens that ran and brought them back to the house.
The teens are 16 to 18 years old. None of the teens live at the home.
A 15-year-old girl later arrived and told police she lived at the home. She said her parents were out of town and that the other teens were not supposed to be at the home until she arrived.
