Auditor to get award
SALEM -- City Auditor Jim Armeni and his staff are being recognized by state Auditor Jim Petro for achieving excellence in their financial record-keeping. Petro is scheduled to be in council chambers at 3:30 p.m. Monday to present Armeni with an auditor's award. The department previously received a national award.
Poster contest awards
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Mercer County Solid Waste Authority will present awards to winners of its recycling poster contest at 6 p.m. Monday in the Shenango Valley Mall court. The contest was open to pupils between kindergarten and sixth grade in Mercer County.
Township cleanup
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield Township residents can drop off unwanted items at any township fire station during a cleanup weekend Saturday and Sunday.
All items except tires and liquids will be accepted.
Appliances may be dropped off behind the Boardman Township building.
Charity trail ride
