WILLIAM H. RISHER, 88



CORTLAND -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Shafer-Winans & amp; Lamer Funeral Home for William H. Risher, 88, of 310 N. Mecca St., who died Saturday in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Mr. Risher was born May 23, 1912, in Walterboro, S.C., a son of Julius F. and Ada Lee Langdale Risher, and lived in Cortland since 1997, after coming from Mississippi. He worked as an electrician for 55 years before retiring in 1974. He had worked at Cortland Hardware after his retirement. A member of Cortland United Methodist Church, he was a member of IBEW Electricians Union and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, carpentry and gardening.
His wife, the former Mary A. Paris, whom he married Dec. 20, 1936, died Aug. 28, 2000.
He leaves two daughters, Judith Hartigan of Southgate, Mich., and Sylvia Wallace of Cortland; two sons, George W. of McKeesport, Pa., and Steven R. of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Gladys Boatwright of Charleston, S.C., and Adella Bernhardt of Monetta, S.C.; a brother, Julius F. Jr. of Perry, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Nathan, Edgel, Robert, Parker and John Wallace Risher, a sister, Doris Risher, and a granddaughter, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
