POW/MIA flag
Korean War Veterans Mahoning Valley Chapter 137 dedicated and raised a POW/MIA flag last week at Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge between Struthers and Campbell. Richard Koker, Chapter 137, chaplain, conducted the ceremony.

Lilly is a son of Sandi J. Karmelita, 104 Hazen Place, Sharon; and Thompson is a son of Ron and Polly Weyant, 7266 W. Market St., Mercer.
UArmy Pvts. Anthony L. Wilson (The Rayen School '00) and Gene M. McCoy (Springfield High School '00) completed basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.
Wilson is a grandson of Robert L. and Maxine Wilson, Camden Avenue, Youngstown. McCoy is a son of Edward and Jeanette McCoy, Springfield Road, New Springfield.
UAir Force Airmen Jason R. Goshay (The Rayen School '00); John R. Kyle (Kinsman Joseph Badger High School '00); and Kevin J. Hayes, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Goshay is a son of Angeal Steep, 1903 Linwood Ave., Erie, and grandson of Raffalda Goshay, 2274 Goleta Ave., Youngstown; Kyle is a son of Robin Kyle, 6542 Orangeville-Kinsman Road, Kinsman; and Hayes is a son of Kevin Hayes, 1782 Roberts Lane N.E., Warren.

UMerchant Marine Academy Midshipman Tedd Spano (Warren John F. Kennedy High School) received a Silver Star for academic achievement during the fall term. The Silver Star is the equivalent of being named to the dean's list. He is a son of Nicholas and Mary Spano of Warren.
