FISH ADVISORY Consumption guidelines



Ohio Department of Health recommends that fish caught in these local bodies of water be eaten in limited amounts:
Ashtabula River (24th Street Bridge to Lake Erie): once a week, smallmouth bass; once a month, largemouth bass and walleye; once every two months, channel catfish and common carp.
Berlin Lake: once a month, channel catfish.
Conneaut Creek: once a month, smallmouth bass.
Highlandtown Lake: once a month, largemouth bass.
Lake Erie: once a week, smallmouth bass, Chinook salmon under 19 inches, and freshwater drum and walleye; once a month, Chinook salmon 19 inches and larger, coho salmon, common carp, steelhead trout, white bass and white perch; once every other month, lake trout and channel catfish under 16 inches; do not eat channel catfish 16 inches and larger.
Grand River: once a month, common carp 22 inches and larger, freshwater drum, largemouth bass, silver redhorse, smallmouth bass and yellow bullhead; once a week, common carp less than 22 inches.
Little Beaver Creek (Southeast Ohio River Tributary): once a month, common carp and sauger; once every two months, channel catfish.
Mahoning River (N.W. Bridge Road, Warren to Pennsylvania Border): once a week, white crappie; once a month, walleye; do not eat channel catfish and common carp.
Mahoning River (Berlin Dam to Pennsylvania border): once a month, smallmouth bass.
Middle Fork Little Beaver Creek (Allen Road to Little Beaver Creek): Do not eat any fish.
Ohio River: once a week, walleye under 17 inches, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, sauger; once a month, walleye 17 inches and larger, freshwater drum, white bass, hybrid striped bass; once every two months, flathead catfish and channel catfish under 17 inches; do not eat channel catfish 17 inches and larger and common carp.
