A poll of 500 Ohio voters shows:
Thirty percent rated political party endorsements as the most important factor in their decision-making, 26 percent said endorsements from special interest groups were the most important factor, and 7 percent rated newspaper endorsements as the most important.
Fifty-three percent said they paid more attention to the 2000 election than previous elections.
Seventy-two percent said it is fair to criticize a candidate for taking campaign contributions.
Eight percent said accusations by opponents are most important to them.
Thirty-five percent said these accusations are not important at all.
Ninety percent said they think negative attack campaigning is unethical.
Eighty-one percent said negative campaigning makes people less likely to vote.
