HERMAN MAASS
1959: Started at General Motors Institute, where he earned a mechanical engineering degree.
1963: Foreman at the Fisher Body Assembly Plant in Tarrytown, N.Y.
1966: General foreman of the body shop at Lordstown Assembly Plant.
1977: General superintendent of the plant.
1980: Plant superintendent of the Lordstown van plant, which is now closed.
1983: General superintendent of the van plant. The plant and general superintendents worked under a complex manager, a position which no longer exists.
1986: Production manager at the Buick City Assembly Center in Flint, Mich.
1991: Plant manager of the body system at Saturn's plant in Spring Hill, Tenn.
1996: Plant manager of Lordstown Assembly Plant.
MAUREEN MIDGLEY
1983: Engineer at GM plant in Missouri after earning a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. She also has a master's degree in manufacturing management.
1987: Senior engineer at the Reatta Craft Centre paint shop in Lansing, Mich.
1987: Left GM to run a joint-venture paint shop for PPG Industries.
1990: Returned to GM as manufacturing engineering manager at Saturn.
1994: Production superintendent in stamping and polymer molding operations at Saturn and then manager of the plant making GM's electric vehicle.
1997: Director of engineering for GM's paint operations in North America.
1999: Launch manager for the 2000 Cavalier and Sunfire, then named assistant plant manager at Lordstown Assembly Plant.
2001: Plant manager at Lordstown.
