DID MILOSEVIC ADD 'LOOT' TO RAPE, MURDER AND PILLAGE?

Reports that Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic may well have shipped 380 pounds of gold out of Yugoslavia and into Switzerland in the months before the then-Yugoslavian president was removed from power is further evidence of the corruption in his power-hungry regime.
Million-dollar haul: It was not enough that he directed the murder and rape of Bosnian Muslims and Kosovar Albanians as he strove for Serbian domination of the Balkans, but now it appears that he helped himself to the wealth of his own nation as well. At some $265 an ounce, 380 pounds of gold is worth well over $1 million. Quite a nice haul for Milosevic and his henchmen.
Despite the accusations of war crimes against him, a popular uprising that forced him from office and a recent poll that showed 60 percent of Serbian citizens believe Milosevic should stand trial for war crimes, he continues to live in the lap of luxury protected by a cadre of supporters who have pledged to guard their leader around the clock and prevent any legal summons from reaching him.
Milosevic belongs in the Hague to be tried by the U.N. Tribunal for his evil-doing. These latest charges should encourage the Yugoslav government to turn him over to the world body.
