YOUNGSTOWN Robber sentenced to prison

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 22-year-old city man was sent to prison Wednesday for a robbery spree and police chase last summer.
Andre Swanson of West Judson Street pleaded guilty in January to eight counts of aggravated robbery and single counts of carrying concealed weapons, resisting arrest and failing to comply with a police order.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced him to seven years in prison for the crime and three additional years because a gun was used.
The sentencing was delayed because Judge Krichbaum had ordered a background check on Swanson.
Authorities said Swanson robbed Angelo's Pizza Shop on South Avenue, the Vista Lounge on Donald Avenue and Sandy's Family Hair Care Center on Mahoning Avenue in August.
After the third robbery, Swanson led police on a car chase along Interstate 680 at speeds of more than 80 mph. He eventually stopped and was caught during a foot chase.
