YOUNGSTOWN -- Services were to be at noon today in Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church for William Thomas Martin Jr., 62, of 555 Detroit Ave., who died of a heart attack Monday in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Martin was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of William T. Sr. and Anne E. Clark Martin. He had been a musician with various groups and singers, including The Temptations, Don Gardner Quintet, Bill Dogett, and Iris Elder and the Sparkles. He had been a support staffer for Macy's Department Store and caretaker for Faith Community Center both in New York City. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves.
Besides his mother of Youngstown, he leaves his wife, the former Carolyn P. Chambers, whom he married Feb. 17, 1983; three daughters, Davida Martin-Brown of Youngstown, Simone Jean-Marie of Metuchen, N.J., and Dana Martin of Teaneck, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Nadja White of Queens, N.Y.; a son, Maurice Jean-Marie of San Diego; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A brother, Vernon L. Martin, is deceased.
