WALTER SCHNELL, 89 Was a Mahoning deputy for 20 years

STRUTHERS -- A private memorial service will be conducted for Walter Schnell, 89, of 1141 Runge Blvd., who died Tuesday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
Mr. Schnell was born May 11, 1911, in Youngstown, a son of John and Amalia Jager Schnell, and lived in the area all his life.
He was a Mahoning County sheriff deputy for 20 years and had also been a machinist at LTV/Youngstown Sheet & amp; Tube.
He leaves his wife, the former Katherine A. Hlay, whom he married Sept. 14, 1964; a stepson, Joseph Pavlacic of New Castle; a stepdaughter, Judy Marino of Boardman; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Frederick and John, and a sister, Claire Riebe, are deceased.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Clemente Funeral Home, Struthers. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
