SHARPSVILLE After teacher is attacked, mother faces assault charges

The woman is accused of punching the teacher in the chest and face in full view of the roomful of pupils.
SHARPSVILLE, Pa. -- Police said a Ridge Avenue woman upset with the way a teacher handled a note-passing matter involving her daughter attacked the teacher in his classroom.
Victoria M. Morrison, 32, was arraigned Tuesday before District Justice James McMahon on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct and freed on a nonmonetary bond pending a preliminary hearing.
Police said sixth-grade teacher Lewis Rosa had confronted Morrison's daughter about passing a note in his class Friday morning, taking her into the hall, confiscating the note and turning it in to the principal's office.
Told her mother: The girl apparently contacted her mother because she arrived at the school around 11 a.m. and went straight to Rosa's classroom, bypassing the office and failing to report her presence in the building, police said.
She is accused of attacking Rosa, punching him numerous times in the chest and face in full view of the roomful of pupils as he tried to get her out of the classroom, police said.
Other school personnel reached the room and escorted Morrison out of the building before police arrived, and charges weren't filed against her until Tuesday.
Police said authorities were concerned about Rosa's health because he had open heart surgery in 1998 and has suffered three heart attacks.
