MARY E. WEEDER, 85



EAST PALESTINE -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Church for Mary E. Weeder, 85, of 4144 N. Pleasant Drive, who died Tuesday afternoon in Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, where she was a patient for the past year.
Mrs. Weeder was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Bessemer, a daughter of Anton and Caroline Skule Ciber, and came to East Palestine in 1937.
She and her husband operated a family farm and roadside stand for many years and she was known in the area for "Grandma Weeder's Pies."
She was a member of the church, St. Mary's Ladies Aid Society, Unity Grange and state and national grange organizations, East Palestine Historical Society, Columbiana Bee Keepers Association, East Palestine Sportsman's Club Auxiliary and the SNPJ Lodge.
Her husband, Frank J., whom she married June 5, 1937, died March 17, 1997.
She leaves two daughters, Florence Webb of Auburn, Ind., and Virginia Foster of East Palestine; three sisters, Helen Hray of Warren, Caroline Peloza of Bessemer and Lillian Glavic of Struthers; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be at 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
