HAROLD E. SHAFFER, 86 Was Pa. state constable for 18 years
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Chestnut Ridge Church of God, Hubbard, for
Harold E. Shaffer, 86, of 16 N. Mitchell Road, who died Wednesday morning in Sharon Regional Health Center after a long illness.
Mr. Shaffer was born July 14, 1914, in Clarksville, Pa., a son of John E. and Florence Merchant Shaffer.
He was a checker for National Castings for 30 years and was an auditor for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Revenue for seven years, retiring in 1979. He was also a Pennsylvania state constable for 18 years.
He was a member of the church, Shenango Township Grange, was past district Pennsylvania deputy of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, member of A.M.O.S., and was a fire and police volunteer in West Middlesex .
Besides his wife, the former Ann L. Shafer, whom he married April 23, 1974, he leaves a son, Denton of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Winifred Blum of Clark; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Florence and Twila Maybee, and a brother, Gaylord Shaffer, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, Sharpsville.
