Coopers' 50th is celebrated at center, gardens



YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Nick Cooper, 1829 Overlook Ave., who were married May 26, 1951, were honored May 13 during an afternoon reception at Fellows Riverside Gardens and the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center in Mill Creek Park.
Arrangements for the golden anniversary celebration were made by the couple's children and their spouses, Rich and Patsy Tamburino, Berlin Center; Linda Urbanowicz, Novelty; Nick and Karen Cooper, Canfield; and Brenda Adair and Tom and Lisa Scanlon, all of Youngstown. There are also nine grandchildren in the family. A daughter, Michelle Cooper, is deceased.
The former Ann Scavina and Mr. Cooper were married at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he is a member.
Mrs. Cooper is retired from Spring Lakes Golf Course in Lake Milton, where she was employed in the pro shop and as cashier. She is a member of Holy Name Church, Jackson Roosevelt Club and Girard Eagles 1272.
Mr. Cooper served three years with the U.S Navy and retired as an engineer after 31 years of service with Youngstown Fire Department. He was co-owner of Spring Lakes Golf Course for 26 years and is a member of the Baseball Oldtimers Organization.
