Jackson-Milton pupils' meal prices to rise

NORTH JACKSON -- The cost of breakfast and lunch in Jackson-Milton schools will be going up next year.
This fall, the cost of a lunch for pupils in grades three to six will go up 25 cents to $1.75, while lunch for pupils in grades 7-12 will rise 30 cents to $2. Meanwhile, the cost of breakfast for all pupils will go up 25 cents to $1.
The cost of lunch for pupils in kindergarten through second grade will remain $1.50.
Superintendent Warne Palmer said the district's director of classified staff asked for the increase to help offset the cost of serving breakfast and lunch. The increase was approved at a recent board meeting.
