Arena board looks at legal applicants

YOUNGSTOWN -- Four legal firms or lawyers are seeking to represent the board overseeing the proposed downtown civic center.
The board has received applications from Harrington, Hoppe & amp; Mitchell of Youngstown; Manchester, Bennett, Powers & amp; Ullman of Youngstown; Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & amp; Aronoff of Cleveland; and Alden Chevlen of Youngstown, a lawyer and also director of the city's downtown development agency.
The board's personnel committee met in closed session Tuesday to talk about the merits of each applicant.
Each appears to meet the criteria the board set in its legal notice seeking applicants, committee members said. All four probably will be interviewed, they said.
