NEW YORK -- Crystal Robinson scored 16 points to lead New York. Becky Hammon and Tari Phillips each scored 12 points for the Liberty (4-3). Phillips had 10 rebounds for her third double-double. Reserve Helen Luz led Washington with 15 points, and New York City native Chamique Holdsclaw had 13 points and eight rebounds. Vicky Bullet added 12 points for the Mystics (2-4), who have lost three straight. Holdsclaw, who sprained cartilage in her chest when she got stepped on during a scramble at Detroit on Thursday, shot 6-for-14 from the field. She had a career-high 31 points against the Liberty in an 81-80 loss last Sunday. Trailing by 14 points at halftime, Washington scored six straight points, closing within 42-34. Robinson's fourth 3-pointer pushed the Liberty's lead to 52-40 with 14:44 remaining. Holdslaw's put-back of her own miss pulled the Mystics within 54-44, but consecutive baskets by Vickie Johnson ignited an 11-0 New York run. Hammon's 3-pointer capped the spurt and extended the lead to 65-44 with 9:23 left. A basket by Bullet's ended Washington's three-minute scoring drought. A 3-point play by Sue Wicks gave the Liberty a 19-point lead, and the Mystics never recovered. Washington, which was outscored 38-24 in the paint, outrebounded New York 27-26. The Liberty finished 8-for-12 from 3-point range.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Edwina Brown hit a 3-pointer with 6.3 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lead Detroit. Brown's game-winning jumper from the left corner was the last in a series of clutch shots. She hit a 3-pointer with 7.5 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and hit a 3-pointer with one second to go in the first overtime period to force a second extra period. Charlotte's Andrea Stinson missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer, and the Sting (1-6) lost their third straight game. Brown finished with 19 points for Detroit (3-3), which won its third straight. Dominique Canty scored 20 points and Elena Tornikidou added 11. Shalonda Enis scored 11 points and Keisha Anderson added 10 for the Sting, which committed 22 turnovers. Stinson, who had scored in double figures in 19 straight games, was held to eight points.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nadine Malcolm scored 25 points and Stephanie McCarty followed a steal with a game-winning jump shot in the final seconds for Indiana. Olympia Scott-Richardson had a double-double. She shot 9-for-14 from the line and finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana (2-5). Katie Smith scored 22 points for Minnesota (1-4), which lost its fourth straight game. Betty Lennox added 15 points and eight rebounds.
