Schiers celebrate golden anniversary by renewing vows at Warren church

WARREN -- Mr. and Mrs. Leroy B. Schier of 804 Spring Pines Drive S.W. , celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 12 by renewing their nuptial vows after a Mass held at Blessed Sacrament Church, where they are members.
Afterward a dinner was held in their honor at the Hippodrome by their children and their spouses, Charles Schier of Garland, Texas; Rebecca and William Costas of Cortland; Michael Schier of Waverly; Lucinda and Alan Shaker of Howland; Cathy and Thomas Bernini of Bazetta; Edward and Christina Schier of Newton Falls; and Amy and William Gadd of Warren. A son, Steven Schier, is deceased.
There are 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in the family.
Mr. Schier and the former Patricia A. Wernecke were married Jan. 20, 1951, at St. Paul Church in Akron.
Mr. Schier, who retired from East Ohio Gas Co. in 1990, and his wife, who is a homemaker, spend their winters at Hutchinson Island, Fla.
