AUSTINTOWN Judge revokes bond

A county prosecutor thinks Enrico Davis is a 'serious physical danger to the community.'

AUSTINTOWN -- A township man arrested earlier this month after being accused of breaking into his neighbor's house and sleeping in her bed had his $50,000 bond revoked on a pending 1998 rape charge and is now in Mahoning County Jail.
Police also are continuing their investigation of allegations that Enrico Davis, 29, raped a 12-year-old girl while free on bond, as well as a report that he may have assaulted a 17-year-old girl while on house arrest.
Davis, of Fountain Square Drive, had been on house arrest from February until this month as part of his bond for the 1998 rape charge.
Judge Robert Lisotto of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court released Davis from house arrest after his lawyer said he had a full-time job. Davis worked as an assistant manager at a shoe store in Southern Park Mall.
County prosecutors did not oppose imposing or ending the house arrest. The county prosecutor trying the case would not talk with The Vindicator Monday after the bond revocation hearing.
The motion to revoke the bond, however, says the prosecutor feels that Davis poses a "serious physical danger to the community" as shown by his arrest July 15 for breaking into his neighbor's home.
Trial: Davis' rape trial, which was set to begin Wednesday, has been postponed because Judge Lisotto will be out of town. No new trial date has been set, but the judge said the trial most likely will start next week.
Police say that in 1998 Davis forced a 10-year-old female he knew to perform sex acts on him several times over a three-month period. A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Davis on a rape charge Feb. 18, 1999. The indictment was unsealed Feb. 23, 1999, and a trial was set for Oct. 10, 2000.
Davis did not appear in court that day, however, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested in St. Louis in December 2000 and extradited to Ohio.
Judge Lisotto later placed Davis on house arrest March 13. He was released from house arrest July 5.
Police say that early on July 15, Davis entered his neighbor's apartment by breaking a ground-level window. A 12-year-old girl in the apartment with a baby-sitter called her grandmother and said Davis had fallen asleep in the bed. The grandmother summoned police.
Davis was charged with aggravated burglary. His case was bound over to the county grand jury July 16.
