Art exhibits needed
SHARON, Pa. -- The Valley Arts guild is accepting proposals from artists for the 2002 exhibit.
Submission deadline is Sept. 1. Each submission must have between 10 and 15 slides of representative works. The slides must be labeled with the artist's name, title of the work, its medium and size.
An artist statement, exhibit concept, resume or support material and a self-addressed, stamped envelope should also be submitted.

Galaxy suspected to lack black hole
Astronomers have opened a new case file: the Mystery of the Missing Black Hole.
Until now, scientists had spotted supermassive black holes at the centers of all galaxies studied in detail. But a team from Rutgers University found a galaxy with either a tiny black hole or none at all.
The astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope to scrutinize the nearby galaxy M33, long suspected to lack a black hole. The new observations show that certain stars orbit the galaxy's center more slowly than they would if a massive black hole were dragging them around.
If M33 does contain a black hole, it must be less than 3,000 times the sun's mass, the researchers report in the online version of the journal Science. By comparison, the Milky Way galaxy harbors a black hole about 3 million times the sun's mass.
