Delasin starting to make this a habit

Her reaction to victory was another example of why fans here have taken to her.

VIENNA -- The Mahoning Valley has become a second home to Californian Dorothy Delasin.
The 20-year-old from San Francisco, who won the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic for the second straight year, didn't have to think long about why she enjoys this tournament.
"It is definitely the people here," she said. "The fans, the volunteers and the official have all been so great to me these past two years."
Her 13-under par 203 total was the best score in the four LPGA tournaments held at Squaw Creek Country Club and her final round 7-under 65 equaled the best 18-hole score ever in an LPGA event there.
Last year: Delasin won last year's Giant Eagle at Avalon Lakes Golf Course as a 19-year-old rookie, becoming the youngest player since Amy Alcott in 1975 to win an LPGA event.
That she didn't get a chance to defend her championship on the same course was not a factor, she said.
"Actually it meant more to me to have won the tournament on two different courses," said Delasin.
Since the tournament will be held at Squaw Creek for the next three years, Delasin won't have that problem next year.
Tears: The LPGA Rookie of the Year in 2000, who last year became so excited after winning the title that she suffered a nose bleed during the awards presentation, broke into tears Sunday when she talked about her parents. They couldn't make the trip this weekend, but she did talk to them by phone shortly after the conclusion of the tournament.
"No nose bleed, but I was still shocked to have won," Delasin said. "I was down in the locker room when they came and told me that I won and I was very surprised.
"It was a little easier this year because I didn't have to go through a playoff, but I liked both wins just as much. This is just another big boost for my confidence," she added.
Delasin defeated Pat Hurst in a playoff last year.
Se Ri Pak has won eight of 10 events when she's led going into the final round. Both times she's lost have come at the Giant Eagle Classic, and both times it has been Delasin who has won.
"I really didn't know about that," Delasin said. "But I think it's pretty cool."
