Ohio golfers have a chance

Boardman's Kelly Cap was among those who missed the cut.

VIENNA -- Somerset's Tammie Green's 5-under 67, Middletown's Marianne Morris' 6-under 66 and Mentor's Laurel Kean's 2-under 70 gave Buckeye fans plenty to cheer for at Saturday's second round of the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.
Other Ohioans didn't enjoy their rounds at Squaw Creek Country Club.
Ohio State graduate Suzy Green shot a 2-over-par 74 for a two-day total of 143.
Parma Heights' Barb Mucha shot an even-par 72 to remain 2-under for the tournament.
Cleveland's Mary Kay Marino missed the cut by two strokes after shooting a 3-over par 75 for a two-day total of 149.
Cap: Boardman's Kelly Cap, who said she felt she putted well during Friday's 5-over 77, said after Saturday's 74 that she wished she had kept up her magic.
"I hit a lot of greens today, but didn't hit any putts, especially coming down the stretch," Cap said. "I wish I had putted like I did [Friday] and then I would be playing [today].
"The greens are getting a lot harder," Green said. "It was fun but I'm a little disappointed. I really thought I was going to have a good round today.
"I was pressing a little too much. I didn't have my radar going on some shots. They were on the green, but I just couldn't sink the putts. I just couldn't find my tempo."
Rough day: On her final hole, Cap came up a few inches short of the hole on her try for birdie.
The 28-year-old Spartan said that miss on her final hole typified her day.
"I knew it was uphill, but I left it short," Cap said. "I thought I had killed it.
"You should have seen the one before that [on No. 8]. I thought I made a good stroke. I saw Anne Marie's [Palli] putt stay out of the hole, so I played it inside the hole and it broke left."
Natalie Aber, a graduate of Akron Springfield and an Ohio State golfer, finished at 3-over 75 for a two-day total of 150.
Added pressure: Aber said playing close to home adds pressure.
"Because friends know I'm here, I feel like I've got to do well.
"I was a little shaky on the first nine," Aber said. "I was 3-over going into the second nine. I wasn't hitting it as well as I like today, but overall, I felt I played OK. I wish I could have made a few more putts."
Aber said she found her short putts "to be tricky, but I like the course."
Other Buckeyes missing the cut were Amy Langhals of Lima, who shot a 77 on Saturday for a 7-over 151, and North Canton's Faith Egli, who shot a 2-over 74 for 152.
Columbiana's Lisa Becka, who was playing on an exemption, was 18-over for 173.
