May 2001: The annual report of Trumbull County coroner's office states seven people died from overdoses in the county in 2000.
March 14, 2001: 17-year-old Poland Seminary High School student is arrested at Northeast Ohio Regional Center for Adolescent Treatment in the sale of the drug.
March 22, 2001: Poland Township police charge four more Poland High students with possession of or sale of Oxycontin. Three 16-year-olds are charged as juveniles, one 18-year-old as an adult.
April 7, 2001: Two of the Poland students charged with selling OxyContin expelled; the others charged with possessing the drug are suspended.
April 30, 2001: A man enters the Vienna Pharmacy on state Route 193 near Vienna Center, points a gun at a clerk, demands OxyContin, flees the store in a car driven by another man. Cory Cannon of Vienna and Anthony Liebert of Brookfield are later arrested.
April 17, 2001: Twelve adults and a juvenile are arrested after being accused of selling several drugs, including OxyContin, as a result of a eight-month investigation by Trumbull County Drug Task Force.
April 14, 2001: Kevin Wilkes, 20, of Youngstown, is arrested on drug charges after police find he is carrying three OxyContin pills at Pulse Bar on Market Street.
April 12, 2001: Forty 40-milligram OxyContin pills among items stolen in a robbery of a Duquesne Street home in New Castle, Pa.
Also, a Mahoning County grand jury indicts Corey James Krandel, 23, of Beckford on a charge of attempting to pass a fake OxyContin prescription Feb. 5.
March 26, 2001: Police say a 35-year-old Jamestown, Pa., woman buys OxyContin from the Jamestown Pharmacy on Liberty Street with a forged prescription.
March 10-11, 2001: The Trumbull County Drug Task Force arrests 29 people on charges of obtaining 36,500 OxyContin pills between July 1999 and December 2000.
March 6, 2001: A man with a gun robs Dilts Pharmacy on Youngstown's South Side of 200 OxyContin pills.
July 24, 2000: Salvatore Mosco, 28, of Bale Drive, Pittsburgh, removes OxyContin from Rite Aid Pharmacy on East State Street in Sharon, Pa. He later pleads guilty to possession of a controlled substance and is sentenced to a year of probation.
