The property committee of the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp., the city's downtown development agency, handled these items Tuesday:
Recommended to the full board that P & amp;L Paris Corp. be given 30 days to make its proposal to lease the old First Federal Bank building once a report on asbestos has been issued. The company's 60-day deadline has passed, but Paris was waiting for the asbestos report. The CIC should have that report by week's end.
Recommended to the full board that Aberdeen Construction of Boardman be awarded a $72,400 contract to finish off remaining office space in the George V. Voinovich Government Center. The next lowest bid was $76,080. The space would house an office and conference room for the CIC.
Talked about putting the agency's dilapidated buildings on the city's liability insurance, if possible. CIC's insurance was not renewed due to the condition of the buildings. The agency was turned down by several other insurance companies before finding one that will cover them. The cost is about $13,000 for a year, $2,500 more than last year.
Talked about putting a new roof on the Kress building. A rough estimate is $125,000 to $150,000. The city gave the CIC a $213,000 budget for 2001.
Talked about Mahoning County's Sept. 3 deadline for the city to respond to the county's proposal to renovate and lease the city hall annex. The CIC would handle the project if it happens.
