Man pleads no contest in drug case

CAMPBELL -- An Arizona man will spend 63 days in Mahoning County Jail after he pleaded no contest in Campbell Municipal Court and was found guilty of permitting drug abuse .
Judge John P. Almasy sentenced Manuel C. Calles, 49, Tuesday to 180 days in jail. Half of those days were suspended and Calles was given credit for 27 days served.
The judge also fined Calles $1,000, which was suspended because of indigence.
One count of trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a juvenile and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a child were dismissed.
Calles was one of two adults caught with nearly 30 pounds of suspected high-grade marijuana at a Coitsville motel June 27.
Another Arizona woman, Bertha A. Gomez-Lopez, 38, was fined $3,500 and given consecutive sentences of 180 days in jail, which were suspended, after she was found guilty last week of two counts of committing drug abuse.
